TECU’s Kenya Distance Seminary Set To Start Jan 26/27
The 26th of January at 9 PM (Central) the first classroom session of the planned 26 weekly sessions will begin live streaming from The Promise Campus of UNTCI & TECU. The classroom sessions will also be made available to the public through the “Live Event” window on the landing page of the ministry website www.untci.org.
This program has been more than a year in the planning with a laptop computer, printer, internet service, textbooks, and a safe facility being provided for by Christian Benevolence, and Mission Support through UNTCI ministries believing in this project as well as the Elloise Hoggard Memorial Fund to whom we are so grateful. There is still much to provide for during the course of the program, such as printing paper, ink, etc. but we are confident that these needs will be met.
The students, 12 of them in all and all of them a Pastor of at least one church, will be meeting at 6 AM on their Friday morning prepared for a 2 to 3 hour instruction and discussion session on 1 topic that will be covered for a 2 week period. They will be expected to then study independently and in small groups during the week in order to “master” each topic. They say they are excited to get started.
The TECU faculty are excited to begin this project as well. It has been long planned and taken many turns to get to this point, but we are ready. The confirmation has come in invitations to repeat this program for other similar groups in Kenya and India once we have successfully completed this first ground breaking opportunity.
Upon completion of this course, the students will earn a Bachelor Degree in Theology & Ethics and be ordained in a local ceremony presided by Pastor Fred Akello, UNTCI Minister and TECU Director of Studies in Kenya and Bishop Jacktone Kadero, TECU Assistant Director of Studies in Kenya, that will include them being joined to the UNTCI fellowship.
