Trinity Evangelical Christian University, the private and independent Seminary of the United New Testament Church and it’s Associations has been invited to return to Kenya and go into Ghana to replicate our “Distance Learning Seminary” Bachelor of Theology Degree Program for selected groups of Pastors.
The Pastors being selected for these courses are Pastors of Independent Christian Churches that serve small rural, very poor communities that have no formal support or hierarchic church to rely upon. These churches are being organized into UNTCI Fellowships that can help and support each other.
Many of these Pastors have no formal education in faith based issues, theology, or christology, beyond the basic bible study.
At issue here are the government(s) “crackdown” occurring on Christian Communities, churches especially, as a result of some evils that have crept into the emerging church, taking advantage of the poor with a “prosperity message” and a “pyramid” scheme. As a result of advice from the organized, mainline churches in the hopes that their ranks would inevitably swell, they are requiring formal education and certification of Pastors in order the church continue to meet and operate.
We seek to provide for them in these places that they have been called both education and ordination, for those who can complete the studies and show evidence of their anointing; then, continued support and fellowship as one of “us”. We know the church best served is the free church, independent of the restrictions man would place upon it, and we seek to empower and support it everywhere it can be found.
There is much at stake here! There is much to do here! Our commitment must be great in response!
